The story revolves around three best friends, Mike, Bob, and Jerry, who decide to go on a fishing expedition tour in Bay of Banderas. Mike, an avid fisherman, had always bragged about his fishing skills and how he's always been able to catch the biggest fish. So, Bob and Jerry decide to take him on a fishing expedition tour to put his skills to the test.
The three friends board the boat, ready for an adventure on the high seas. As soon as they set off, the boat hits a wave, causing Bob to fall flat on his face. Mike and Jerry help him up, and Bob says, "This is going to be a great trip, I can feel it!"
As they approach the fishing spot, Mike starts to set up his equipment. But as he's getting ready, he accidentally casts his line over the boat, hooking Jerry's hat and pulling it into the water. Jerry jumps into the water after his hat and swims around, trying to retrieve it, much to the amusement of Mike and Bob.
After a few minutes of Jerry trying to catch his hat, Mike finally reels it in and hands it back to Jerry, soaking wet. Jerry puts it back on, laughing, "I guess I'll have to make do with a wet hat."
As they continue fishing, they suddenly hear a loud noise coming from the engine. Mike goes to check it out and finds that a fish has jumped into the boat and gotten stuck in the engine. Mike tries to remove the fish, but he slips on the deck and lands flat on his back, sending the fish flying into the air and landing back in the water.
Bob and Jerry try to help, but as they lift Mike up, they slip on the deck and all three of them end up tangled in the fishing line. They try to untangle themselves, but the more they try, the more tangled they become. Finally, they manage to free themselves and resume fishing.
A little later, Mike finally catches a huge fish, bragging about his fishing skills. As he's trying to reel it in, the fish starts to pull the boat in a different direction, causing Mike, Bob, and Jerry to be dragged around the deck. The fish ends up being too strong for Mike, and it pulls him into the water, leaving Bob and Jerry on the boat, trying to reel him in.
Finally, they manage to pull Mike back onto the boat, drenched and shivering. He looks at the fish, still attached to the end of the line, and says, "That's a big one! I think I'll call him The Big Kahuna."
“Mike, you know we’re in Mexico right? Kahuna is a Hawaiian thing,” says Bob in amusement.
“Well it’s Hawaii-o-clock somewhere right?”
As they're trying to reel The Big Kahuna in, the boat hits another wave, causing Bob and Jerry to fall flat on their faces. Mike slips on the deck and lands on top of The Big Kahuna, squishing it.
Mike, Bob, and Jerry look at each other, then at the squished fish, and burst out laughing. They finally manage to bring the fish on board and take a picture with it. Mike, still wet and shivering, says, "Well, I may not have caught the biggest fish, but this one will always have a special place in my heart."
As they set off back to shore, the boat suddenly stops, and they realize that the engine has failed. Mike, Bob, and Jerry start to paddle the boat back to shore, still laughing and enjoying their adventure, despite the mishaps along the way.
In the end, they make it back to shore, tired but happy, with a funny story to tell and memories to last a lifetime. They head to a nearby seafood restaurant, eager to enjoy their catch of the day. But as they sit down to eat, they realize that they've caught a protected species and are now facing a hefty fine.
The three friends, still in good spirits, come up with a plan to escape the fine by pretending to be tourists who just happened to stumble upon the fish while taking a walk on the beach. But their acting skills are put to the test when a suspicious park ranger shows up and starts asking questions.
Mike, Bob, and Jerry's attempts to deceive the ranger only lead to more chaos and hilarity. They trip over each other's words, accidentally incriminate themselves, and end up creating a bigger mess than they had intended. In the end, the ranger sees through their charade and writes them a citation for their misadventures on the high seas.
Despite the citation, the three friends leave the restaurant with smiles on their faces, grateful for the memories they've made and already planning their next fishing expedition. As Mike says, "This was the best fishing trip ever! Let's do it again!"
And so, the legend of The Big Kahuna in the Blunder in the Bay of Banderas lives on, as a reminder to always expect the unexpected on a fishing expedition tour gone wrong in Bay of Banderas.
