What to wear horseback riding?

Horseback riding is an excellent way to get in touch with nature and just relax. It’s like a rocking chair that moves, sometimes makes weird sounds, pees, and drinks from a river. Sounds like a certain type of tree, whatever.

Please don’t wear high heels, even if they’re Louboutins. Yes, we love them too, but you won’t after you wear them riding. “What about my red ones?” Don’t wear red Louboutins. You realize that the road in town is cobblestone? You must be very skilled in walking in them to even consider bringing them to Puerto Vallarta, but to wear them horseback riding in Puerto Vallarta is another thing.

Please don’t wear your flippy floppies, even if they’re Balenciagas. It’s Mexico, it’s hot, you have tanlines on your feet already, you just got a nice foot rub from a weirdo in town. That’s great. Life’s a beach, but don’t wear flipflops. We once had a rider lose a flipflop on descent and it fell into the middle of the forest, down a split. This person had to walk around with a single flipflop. Very gringo.

Please don’t wear shorts if you can help it. It won’t be the end of Mexico if you do, but the heat of the saddle, and the moisture of the horse while you ride will not create a fun experience for your thighs. If you value your thighs, you won’t wear shorts.

Sure, you are an Instagram influencer, so dress like it’s the 90s. This means preferably jeans, maybe leggings, at least a pant suit; closed-toe shoes are good. If you are top-heavy-ish, a some support is a great idea. Sunscreen is up to you but we recommend it.
